Dog urine hardwood floors aren’t exactly the best of buddies. Once your dog pee on the floor, you need to clean it right away to prevent the dog from peeing on the same spot. Don’t let the pee or the stain to sit too long. Otherwise, it will be super difficult to remove the stain and also the smell.
There are some products that can be used to remove the urine from the floor but you are always welcome to try some of the natural solutions. You can mix warm water and vinegar to mop the area. People say that apple cider vinegar is more effective than white vinegar but it doesn’t hurt if you have them both at home. Some say that mixing the solution with essential oil will help with the smell of dog urine hardwood floors.
The other solutions are using baking soda or bleach. For the baking soda, simply spread it and leave it overnight. Mop the area the next day – the smell and stain will go away. But if you want a more effective way, you can create the previous solution and add baking soda to improve better cleaning. Be careful when using bleach. Although it is pretty effective to remove the smell, it will tarnish the finish of the floor. Most homeowners would avoid using bleach to treat dog urine hardwood floors.
